Yanni is a third year student at the University of Edinburgh studying Environmental Geoscience. Although half Malaysian and half Scottish, she spent most of her life growing up in Dubai. Diving is a hobby her father wanted to share, so she has been diving since the age of 12. Her interest for diving picked up after completing the Advanced and Rescue Diver courses and she was fortunate enough to dive the gorgeous reefs of Sipadan. Last year, she participated in a reef conservation project in Seychelles. This summer, with her scholarship money, her travel plans include Mexico to study the coral reefs there, with the intention of finding ways to protect them.
