Victor was born in 1962 in Chicago. In 1987, his life took a dramatic turn after his left kidney and adrenal glands were removed because of an infection. Over the next few years it became very difficult for him to keep balance. After graduating in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, he knew he would not be happy using a wheelchair in the Chicago area and he relocated to Arizona. He has over 150 completed dives, 9 of them in a drysuit. He is also Nitrox and Advanced certified. Besides maintaining the www.hsascuba.com website and handling some of the Handicapped Scuba Association’s administrative duties, he is a full-time advocate trying to get more disabled involved in scuba, and serving on the Board of Arizona Disabled Divers Foundation (www.azcandive). He likes nothing more than to continue exploring new underwater destinations. Victor and his wife have fostered six children over the last eight years. They take in two children at a time and only will take in brothers. Victor currently volunteers full time and works part time out of his house. He is involved in trying to get Arizona Disabled Divers Foundation started and helping others that are disabled get active in diving.
