Taylor is a Ph.D. candidate at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Her passion for the ocean has been a steadfast force throughout her life and ultimately led her to the field of marine bioacoustics. Her research aims to better understand how different groups of sperm whales evolve and maintain distinct dialects. Since sperm whale populations are more clearly structured by dialect than geography or genetics, dialect evolution may signify changes in population structure, which could help inform management decisions.
