Renee was an emergency medicine resident physician in New York City when she received her scholarship. Her interest in Search and Recovery was inspired by the tragedy of September 11th. “One of the skills I could have used was the ability to scuba dive. We were informed early on that there was a train stuck in a flooded tunnel with possible survivors and the only way to get to them was to dive.” Renee became a certified diver and will pursue training in search and rescue confined space certification. Currently, Renee is living in New Zealand and works as an Emergency Medicine Consultant and Specialist, and is the Head of Department. “The diving scholarship was a highlight in my life.
