Ever since Rachel first heard the word “marine biologist” and figured out what it meant, she has been pursuing the field of marine biology, captivated by the many wonders that lie beneath the sea. Now, as a student at Maine Maritime Academy, she is in the Marine Biology and Small Vessel Operations program, which has taught her how to be a diligent and safe scientist and vessel operator. Upon graduating, she will test for a 200-ton mate’s license which will further her ability to conduct science at sea.
