Nakia is a Marine Biology student at Nova Scotia’s Dalhousie University who loves combining her love for diving with her love for marine research. She has an intense passion for the ocean and her focus on conservation is a passion to help save it. To that end she has worked on many research projects around the world focusing on conservation management. “I believe that protecting and conserving species and ecosystems is extremely important, but I know that it cannot be done without scientific knowledge and concrete data to back it up.” Her internship will take her to South Africa, where she will work with researchers on the conservation of Great White Sharks. WDHOF funding is helping her further her conservation goals.
