Liene has a Master’s degree in marine biology and 10 years experience working as a researcher. After university, she became a Divemaster and got involved in scientific diving, which lead her to work as science officer in a marine conservation group based in Mexico and later in a coral restoration NGO in Curacao. The fellowship will allow her to develop a photomosaic monitoring method to measure changes to a coral reef community achieved through coral restoration, and set up a long-term monitoring method that can be used as an active tool towards coral reef protection.
