Lachan is a M.Sc. student at Tel-Aviv University, Israel, and studies the ecology, population dynamics, and life history traits of fire coral species in the Red Sea. Studying the unique environment of the northern Red Sea is a privilege to her and every day offield work is a great day, in her perspective. These species are intriguing, especially because they hold a significant ecological importance as reef-building organisms that, together with stony corals, are in charge of the third-dimension reef structure. Her focus is studying their reproduction cycle, measuring regeneration and growth rates and surveying ecological properties of their populations.
