The Women Divers Hall of Fame Advanced Dive Training Grant

Kimberly Malkowski

Kim’s experience with the ocean began early with trips to the beach and aquariums, boat trips with her family and getting scuba certified at the age of 13. She was named the 2008 Boston Sea Rover Frank Scalli Intern and received her BS in Marine Biology from the University of New England. After graduating in 2011, she was certified as a Divemaster and she spent the subsequent two summers as an instructor for Underwater Explorers at the Monterey Bay Aquarium taking kids 8-13 surface scuba diving. While at the Aquarium, Kim interned with the Dive Office and learned to manage scientific divers, repair/maintain gear, and was certified as an AAUS scientific diver. Kim plans to use this training grant for instructor training with the ultimate goal of being a Diving Safety Officer at a public aquarium.
