Kimberly is a junior Marine Science major at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. As a third-generation diver she was introduced to the ocean at a young age, she went on her first dive when she was thirteen and obtained her open water certification at seventeen. The money from this scholarship will be used to support her senior year research project on using parasites to assess the condition of restored marsh habitats. Such data will have implications for how coastal habitats are managed and conserved. She plans on continuing her education towards a PhD and a career in research or teaching at the university level.
