Kayla Blincow is a Ph.D. candidate in the Semmens Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Before starting her Ph.D., she completed her B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution Biology at University of California San Diego followed by a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Her doctoral work focuses on applying quantitative tools to fisheries ecology questions at species, fishery, and global scales. The ultimate goal of her work is to help inform transparent, science-based management and conservation of marine resources.
