Kate is a recently separated U.S. Coast Guard veteran, student, and ocean enthusiast. Growing up in Southern California, her passion for the ocean drew her over the horizon and below the surface. Following medical school, she plans to pursue a career in dive medicine. She received her Open-Water certification in 2014 and plans to use this grant to complete her Open-Water Instructor course. As an instructor, she aims to inspire other women into the water.
