Kate discovered a love for the marine world through scuba diving, which turned into completing a B.Sc. in Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences in Seattle. After briefly returning to her native France to study cuttlefish, she uprooted to Tasmania to train as a commercial diver. There she stayed, working for the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, a salmon farm, and the Australian Antarctic Division. She is currently the Field Diving Officer for the British Antarctic Survey at Rothera Research Station, and hopes to use this grant to help improve the safety of herself and colleagues around the globe.
