Julia Samson spent about a year studying cephalopod bioacoustics at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution after getting her B.S. and M.S. in Biology from Wageningen University (The Netherlands). She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill; her research focuses on the pulsing behavior of xeniid corals and how this behavior both influences and is affected by local water flows. Julia loves going out to the field and strives to continuously develop her diving skills to diversify the data she is collecting for her project.
