WDHOF Graduate Scholarship in Marine Conservation

Jessica Gilpin

Jessica is a Ph.D. student in Marine Biology at Auburn University. She is an AAUS-certified Scientific Diver and is currently working on her SSI Dive Control Specialist certification. The focus of her thesis is the impact of Pederson cleaner shrimps on Caribbean coral reef community biodiversity. She is studying life history traits of this shrimp, which is popular in the aquarium trade, as well as completing fieldwork on quantifying the impacts cleaner shrimps have on reef fish biodiversity. Her career goal is to work for a government agency and aid in wildlife management and conservation of coral reef ecosystems.
