Jess has been scuba diving since the age of 11. Her longstanding passion for the sea led her to receive a First Class Honors degree in Marine Biology. After a few years working as a dive guide in Egypt, she has now returned to academia, studying for a Ph.D. at Bar Ilan University in Israel. Her research is focused on the thermal tolerance of corals in the Gulf of Aqaba and how resilience traits are passed onto the next generation. Jess will use the grant for an Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures course, enabling her to extend the depth range from which she can sample corals for her thesis.
