James is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 55B and Sea Scout Ship 1942, he has a passion for outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship. He has earned his Open Water and Advanced scuba certifications and participated in three high adventures at the BSA Florida Sea Base. In the summer of 2018, he cycled across America from Seattle to Washington DC for 66 days and 4000 miles, and he received Congressional recognition for promoting healthy living and outdoor adventure. He has volunteered more than 750 hours for his local community since 2014 and has received four “President’s Volunteer Service Award” gold medals and the “2020 Billy Michal Student Leadership Award.” James plans to study at the Naval Academy or ROTC program and prepare for a career in environmental protection and maritime law.
