Ingrid Eftedal is a researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with educational background in biophysics and medical technology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. Originally entering the field of diving research as an engineering student, Ingrid was attracted to dive medicine for its opportunities to study the finely orchestrated interactions between human biology and the underwater environment. The aim of her current research is improved understanding of the immune system’s role in reactions and acclimatization to diving; the DAN/R.W. “Bill” Hamilton Research Grant will support a study on occupational saturation divers on the Norwegian continental shelf.
