Helen is a Ph.D. student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a PADI Divemaster and AAUS certified Scientific Diver with over 200 dives. Her thesis research aims to determine how different key marine organisms, including krill and coralline algae, respond to future scenarios of ocean acidification. Through the Center for Ocean Solutions MARINE program, she has worked with local community groups to address environmental problems and received training in communicating science to varied audiences. Her long term goal is to pursue a career in which she can conduct field based scientific research that directly informs marine conservation actions.
