Emily is an aspiring marine ecologist with a B.S. in Environmental Science from San Diego State University. At SDSU, she earned her open water and advanced certifications, and later her scientific diving and rescue certifications. She has since worked in aquaculture research, environmental monitoring, and ecotourism, and will be beginning her Master’s degree at the University of Washington in fall 2024. Utilizing the training and equipment supported by this grant, Emily is excited to explore photography as a tool for science and communication. She also hopes to use photography and videography to advocate for marine conservation and education through sharing her experiences under water.
