Daniela is an evolutionary biologist and lover of marine life and the ocean. She works in sharing that passion with students as founding director of Programa conCiencia, an open-source environmental education program in Peru. Using alternative methods of education based on creative activities, scientific experiments, exploration and games, conCiencia turns difficult scientific concepts into tangible experiences for young children whose families are mostly in low-income marine communities, where environmental awareness is the lowest and yet the dependency on the marine environment for survival is the highest. Her organization works in the hope that the education-through-experience approach to form positive bonds with nature will ensure better stewardship of the earth from the next generation.
