WDHOF/Scuba Made Easy Training Grant in Marine Science, Oceanography, or Ocean Engineering, sponsored by Deb Greenhalgh

Claire Ross

Claire is a PhD Candidate at The ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, The School of Earth and Environment and UWA’s Oceans Institute at The University of Western Australia. Her research is focused on gathering important biological and environmental data for high latitude coral communities living at the extreme limits of their geographical ranges. She anticipates that this research will provide critical information for coral reef management and contribute to better understanding the strategies that corals may use to cope with future climate change. Now a certified Advanced Diver, Claire will use the grant to undertake a dry-suit training course, allowing her to scuba dive in the cold coastal waters of the Southern Ocean to conduct her PhD research. Due to the generosity of the many supporters of the WDHOF fund-raising events and donors to the WDHOF Scholarship Program, we are able to make the following “Honorable Mention” awards.
