Claire is a 2010 graduate of Franklin College with degrees in biology and history. She completed her M.S. in environmental science at Indiana University and received a certificate in underwater resource management. She also works as a research assistant in the Indiana University Office of Underwater Science. She used the grant to complete Divemaster training to better prepare for work in marine conservation and outreach. “I was thrilled to learn I had received a Women Divers Hall of Fame Bonnie Toth Advanced Dive Training Grant in 2012. As a graduate student, obtaining my Divemaster certification was crucial for job applications but furthering my dive training was financially out of reach. This grant allowed me to pursue my Divemaster certification as well as the opportunity to purchase some much needed gear. I was able to pay for my Divemaster course as well as purchase a BC and regulator set-up. Without this grant I would not have been able to complete my gear or training anytime soon. This award means even more to me because it is sponsored by an individual and organization that recognize the importance and contributions of women in the diving world. I am honored to be selected for this award and so incredibly thankful that WDHOF was willing to invest in me as a student, woman, and diver.”
