WDHOF/Women’s Scuba Association Training Grant

Christopher Price

Chris received the WSA grant while still a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. He used his training grant to complete his Open Water Instructor certification. After graduation in 2011, he attended several schools including dive school at the Naval Diving and Training Center in Panama City, Florida Naval School for EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) in Destin, Florida, and the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, where he volunteered to teach scuba to the local Boy Scout troop. He is currently a Lieutenant, stationed as a Platoon Officer–in-charge (OIC) for EOD Mobile Unit 5 in Guam. As a Platoon OIC, he supervises and conducts Mine Counter-Measure Drills, limpet mine operations training, and scuba supervisor drills with the chamber operators in Guam, and also trains with other nations’ military units. Chris got married after his EOD training, and his wife Amy is stationed in Japan. That’s the Navy for you, but they plan on a next tour together.
