Cara Lin is a Ph.D. student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where her current research aims to study how particular genes in seaweeds may affect coral-seaweed interactions and the implications it may have for coral reef health. She graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. in Marine Sciences, where she studied settlement cues and endocrine disruption of marine snails. Prior to her graduate studies, she taught coastal ecology classes to pre-K to12th-grade students as a Georgia Sea Grant intern, and she currently continues to enjoy teaching biology to young students. Through research and outreach, she hopes to support marine conservation by sharing the wonders and importance of marine life with others, and by understanding processes involved in ecosystem health.
