Brooke is a 16-year-old, homeschooled student living in Sarasota, FL. She is fascinated with marine life, especially rays. Brooke organized her first environmental cleanup while living in the rain forest in Ecuador. After moving to Sarasota in 2011, she volunteered with marine education programs at Mote Marine Laboratory and Save Our Seabirds. Last year, Brooke founded Sarasota Ocean Preservers, a program for youth that combines beach and ocean cleanups with an emphasis on marine life education. Through photo, video, and written communication, her marine advocacy website helps further marine conservation efforts. Her goal is to earn a PhD in marine science, but until then, she will continue removing marine debris from the beaches and studying marine organisms.
