The Women Divers Hall of Fame Advanced Dive Training Grant

Brooke Weigel

Brooke started diving in Madison, Wisconsin at age sixteen. While attending St. Olaf College in Minnesota, she began ice diving to be a year-round Midwestern diver. Brooke aspires to a career in aquatic ecology, having studied streams, estuaries and oceans in California, Oregon, Maryland, the Bahamas, Iceland and India. Brooke is interning at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Maryland studying the impacts of the invasive blue catfish in the Chesapeake Bay. She plans to continue her lifelong pursuit of underwater exploration and research through a graduate program in marine ecology. Brooke will use the WDHOF advanced dive training grant to complete her Divemaster certification, which will allow her to share her enthusiasm for the underwater world with others.
