Born and raised on the Pacific island of Guam, Ami grew up surrounded by water. Her favorite things to do involve spending time in the ocean with her friends and family, paddling, snorkeling, and diving. She has recently started working with the Micronesia Conservation Coalition to survey the island’s local manta ray populations and will apply her dive skills to help this cause. With this grant, Ami aims to expand her dive training beyond Open Water certification and become Advanced Open Water Certified and Rescue Diver Certified––both useful to have, not only for her own safety, but also for those around her.
