Women Divers Hall of Fame Graduate Scholarship in Marine Conservation

Ada Alamaru

Ada completed her M.Sc. degree with distinction, studying the biology of corals. Her fascination with the marine environment led her to continue toward a Ph.D. degree in marine ecology in 2008. Ada studies the biodiversity and population genetics of Red Sea mesophotic corals. Throughout her academic career she has been involved in various voluntary educational activities raising public awareness of the fragility of coral reef ecosystems. Ada hopes to continue conducting high quality research in the marine environment that will also be useful in promoting the conservation of coral reefs. She is continuing her graduate work at Tel Aviv University in molecular biology, linnaean taxonomy, and marine biology.
