Jill Yager Ph.D.

Jill is a certified Full Cave Diver and has been cave diving since the mid-1970’s. She has logged more dives in caves than in the ocean. She is a Fellow and Life Member of the National Speleological Society. While exploring caves in the Bahamas, Jill collected and named the Remipedia, an unusual animal that represented a new class of crustacean. Since her biological discovery she has explored caves throughout the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Mexico & Cuba, and discovered many new species of cave adapted animals. Jill is Professor Emerita of Antioch College. She has been living in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico for over 10 years. Jill is a Research Associate with the Invertebrate Zoology Department at the Natural History Museum, Smithsonian, where she continues to study remipede crustaceans.
