Irati started diving in 2014, in the cold Atlantic waters of the Azores Islands. She has worked for nine years as a scuba diving instructor around the world in four different continents. Now settled in the Canary Islands, she works in environmental education with local schools and also as a scuba diving instructor in a diving center. She has just finished her Master’s in Marine Biology through the University of the Algarve in Portugal and is actively participating in scientific research projects. With this grant for advanced scientific training, she will be able to expand her knowledge and skills as a diver and a scientist, expanding her professional opportunities, and be able to help out in new future conservation projects.
