The Women Divers Hall of Fame

HELP US HONOR OUTSTANDING WOMEN!

The Women Divers Hall Of Fame (WDHOF) seeks to recognize the outstanding contributions that women divers have made in the exploration, understanding, safety, enjoyment, and preservation of our underwater world. We know there are many deserving women not yet among our honorees. Please take time to honor them with your nomination

A woman nominated to the WDHOF must meet two criteria to be considered by the Selection Committee:

1. She must actually be a diver (free, SCUBA, scientific, commercial or military); and
2. Her contribution must be recognized at the national or international level.

Guidelines for successful nominations are provided here.  Representative achievements which have qualified Nominees for selection in the past can be seen in the member rosters.

All nomination materials must be received electronically and must be submitted together as a single submission by November 30, 2010. The nomination packet must include:

1. a completed WDHOF Nomination Form;
2. a summary of achievements which addresses the guidelines
3. two letters of recommendation, with preferably at least one written by a WDHOF Member. If this is not possible, both recommendations must written by individuals who are able to address the nominee's credentials with respect to the guidelines
4. a biography of approximately 100 words, which will be used as the descriptor on the “Member Roster” and other places where members are honored; and
5. a digital photograph which likewise will be used in the member roster/etc., for successful nominees.

WDHOF expects that any Nominee who is nominated and selected will accept the invitation for membership and induction into the organization. To ensure interest, the Nominee must be notified of the nomination by the Nominator, and she must provide the Nominator with the appropriate materials for the nomination package. (Note: Self-nominations are acceptable but all materials are still required.)

In order for your nomination to be processed, all entries marked with an asterisk (*) on the Nomination Form must be complete. Incomplete nominations will not be accepted and will not be considered.

All nomination Materials must be sent electronically to Nominations@WDHOF.org. please use "WDHOF Nomination 2011 - <your Nominee's name>" as your subject line.  If electronic submission presents a hardship, please contact the New Members Committee Chair at Nominations@WDHOF.org.

Please retain a copy of your completed nomination and all supporting materials. You should receive an acknowledgement of your nomination within 10 days.

The New Members Committee will consider all nominations and make its annual selection of new members by mid-January. All Nominees and Nominators will be notified by the end of January.

Within 30 days of receiving notification, the Selectee must provide WDHOF with an official acceptance of membership. The official induction of WDHOF Honorees is made annually at the Beneath the Sea (BTS) Expo, which is held in March at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ.

The acceptance notice should also indicate whether or not the Selectee will attend the Awards Ceremony at Beneath the Sea, along with confirmation of her biography, photo, and current contact information for the WDHOF Directory. Selectees are expected and encouraged to attend the induction, but if for some reason a selectee is unable to attend, alternate arrangements will be made.
